The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE)– A national association of energy professionals founded and dedicated to ensure the input of African Americans and other minorities into the discussions and developments of energy policies, regulations, R&D technologies, and environmental issues. AABE has 43 active chapters in six geographic regions in the United States. AABE is an energy policy and educational organization whose members participate in every segment of the energy sector throughout the United States. Local AABE chapters have instituted various mentorship programs for high school and college students majoring in energy-related disciplines, including a scholarship program for high school seniors.
The New York Metropolitan Area Chapter (NYMAC) of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is one of three chapters in the Northeast Region of the United States. The New York Metropolitan Area Chapter of AABE was founded in 1987, and its members are professionals working in companies such as Consolidated Edison of NY (Con Edison and Orange & Rockland) and the National Grid. The mission is to provide energy professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and students a pathway to learn more about the energy industry through education, mentoring, community service and business networking. AABE-NYMAC members are from all energy and energy-related disciplines (oil, gas, electricity, nuclear, renewables, government, technology, energy services and water) thereby creating a broad knowledge base for members.

Con Edison has a commitment to sustainability and is working to generate half of New York’s electricity from solar or wind by 2030.
National Grid – A international electricity and gas company and one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the world, connecting more than 20 million people to energy sources in Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island. National Grid is the largest distributor of natural gas in the northeast and delivers gas and electricity across Great Britain. The core of National Grid’s business is the delivery of electricity and natural gas while developing and implementing sustainable, innovative and affordable energy solutions. National Grid’s vision is “to be a recognized leader in the development and operation of safe, reliable and sustainable energy systems to meet the needs of our customers, and communities, and to generate value for our investors”.
